Each year policemen and women put their lives on the line to help the community, and sometimes Police Officers pay the ultimate sacrifice. This is where Police Legacy helps. It supports the widows/widowers and families of deceased Police Officers.

2008 NSW Police Games
Police Credit Union this year proudly sponsored the 2008 NSW Police Games. The Games were held over 9 days in the Blacktown region during the 1st – 9th March. This year represented the 24th consecutive year the Games have been running.
The Games each year allow Police to interact with each other on a more fun and participative level and encourages teamwork, camaraderie and fitness.
The event is not restricted to Police. Individuals from Emergency Services and their immediate family were also invited to enter.
The sports offered in 2008 were: Angling, Archery, Basketball, Clay Target, Cycling, Fun Run/Walk, Golf, Hockey, Motocross, Mountain Bike Racing, Netball, Oz Tag, Paintball, Pistol, Rifle (small bore), Sailing, Soccer (field and indoor), Softball, Squash, Surfing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Ten Pin Bowling, Track and Field and Triathlon.
Congratulations must go out to the organisers and all the volunteers who gave their time to create such a well run, professional event.
And to those who participated, we hope to see you all back again next year!
Green Valley Police work towards better health
A “Biggest Loser” Police Style!
Police Credit Union were proud to sponsor Green Valley Local Area Command “Biggest Loser” fitness challenge. The staff signed up to a 3 month heath and fitness challenge aimed at healthier eating habits, fitness and weight loss.
At the beginning of the program the participant’s underwent a heath check and weigh in and attended weekly training sessions. They were also given assistance from the NSW Police Force Safety Command, providing advice on healthy eating habits and exercise at home plans.
The “Final Challenge Day” was held at Greenway Park Public School on Sunday 25th May 2008. The day was for the participant’s family and friends to join in and celebrate their achievements. An official weigh in was recorded and the participants competed in a final fitness challenge. The day also consisted of a BBQ lunch and provided games for the whole family to enjoy.
The winner of the “Biggest Loser” challenge was Sergeant Gary Comber (featured below) losing a total of 12.8kgs. The winners of the male and female final fitness challenge held on the day were Constable Tim Reynolds and Constable Stacey Dews. Constable Joe Boustani received the achievement award with a huge body transformation putting on 10cm on his chest whilst losing 8cm off his waist.
Both Sergeant Comber and Constable Reynolds have elected to donate their prize money to the Westmead Children’s Hospital.
Congratulations to all the participants, the trainer Mick Stierli from the NSW Police Force Safety Command and Inspector John Nelson for organising the fitness challenge.

PEP Award
The Police Credit Union Prosecutor Education Program Academic Achievement Award is presented to the Trainee Police Prosecutor with the highest average mark over the course of the program. Police Credit Union introduced the Award to recognise the efforts of Police Officers continuing further studies and the enormous amount of commitment and dedication this requires.
The Prosecutor Education Program (PEP) includes 9 months intensive classroom study where trainees are required to sit weekly exams. Candidates for the Prosecutors Education Program must have at least 3 years Policing experience.
Police Prosecutors process matters in many jurisdictions including the Children's Court, Licensing Court and the Coroner's Court. Jurisdiction of Police Prosecutors vary between each Court, however some of the matters they manage include break and enters, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and supplying prohibited drugs.
